On Tuesday 12 December we had our last Jindabyne Lions Dinner Meeting for 2017. This was our Christmas dinner meeting and was a fun relaxed night at the Jindabyne Bowling Club.
Thank you Lion Lois for the lovely Christmas table decorations and Bon Bons, they really gave a great Christmas celebration feel. President Jack brought along a guest, Megan Drummond, who owns Fancy Bouquets in Jindabyne. Megan made a beautiful chocolate bouquet place setting for each Lion attending.
There will not be dinner in January so our next dinner meeting will be the second Tuesday in February.
Lions Christmas Cakes. The cakes are very late arriving this year. This week we are setting up a table at Nuggets Crossing to sell as many as we can. Lion Noel will be there tomorrow from around 11am, Lion Jenny on Wednesday from around 10am and Lion Nira Saturday from around 9am. If anyone else can help out with a few hours on these days or Thursday, Friday or Sunday please call or text Nira on 0437 514 006 to advise. The cakes, table and signs are at the Nuggets Crossing centre Management Office so it is easy to collect and set up.
Lion Louise has also offered to sell the cakes from the Commonwealth Bank for the week as well.
Australia Day Function in Jindabyne. Snowy Monaro Regional Council has advised that even though the official Australia Day function will be held in Cooma on January 26 they will support a Lions Australia Day Function in Jindabyne. They are supplying an Australia day Ambassador and some of our councillors will be in attendance. We are looking at holing a similar function to what has been held in previous years including speeches, songs and our Famous BBQ. The function will be at Banjo Patterson Park and will begin around 9am. We will be looking for as many volunteer Lions as possible to help with this important local event. More information will be sent to you when we have it at hand.
Our next fundraising/catering event will be the Australian Water ski Champs 9-12/13 January. This is a very big fundraiser for the club and requires a lot of helpers. Please contact Lion Wendy if you can help out it is a daytime event and we offer a full BBQ service plus more. it would be good to have a couple of shifts of helpers each day so we don’t get exhausted.
Please contact Lion Wendy if you can help set up and or help out for any of these days. 0408 489 141.
During 2018 we have once again locked in to run the Community Sausage Sizzle @ Mitre 10 Jindabyne on the 3rd Saturday of the Month beginning on Saturday 20 January. This is a simple but consistent fundraiser and good community relations. Please try to volunteer for at least one of these Saturdays. Let lion Wendy know when you would like to volunteer.
Just a reminder about Lions membership fees. These are due 6 monthly and need to be kept up to date especially for our insurance cover. Please check if you are due and make your payments. Contact Lion Brian Phillips if you need to check you current status.
Merry Christmas and all the best for a safe and happy New Year
